Rev. Charles L. Dockery, M.Div.

Rev. Dockery received his Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Counseling Psychology. He received his Master of Divinity Degree from The Samuel D. Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. He was Ordained through the United Church of Christ in April 2016.

Rev. Dockery serves as the Senior Pastor of Immanuel Church Unusual-Chicago (ICU). Prior to accepting this appointment, Rev. Dockery served as the Executive Minister for Trinity United Church of Christ in Gary, IN. Rev. Dockery also serves as a pulpit supply Minister where he preaches monthly at Pullman Presbyterian Church in Chicago, IL. 

Prior to accepting the call to ministry, Mr. Dockery was a High School Football Coach. He traded the whistle around his neck for a cross and became a life coach. 

Rev. Dockery’s expertise is in church administration, Christian Education, community outreach & development, and public theology.

Rev. Dockery’s skills include coaching, preaching, teaching, training & development, organizational design, pastoral care, and verbal and written communication. 

Rev. Dockery possesses the following spiritual gifts; leadership, administration, wisdom, knowledge, teaching, exhortation, and discernment.

Rev. Dockery’s other full-time vocation is as Membership & Guest Services Coordinator for Centers at Moraine Valley Community College. Prior to this Rev. Dockery retired as the Executive Director of the Calumet Memorial Park District. He has been in the field of Parks and Recreation for twenty years.

Rev. Dockery is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional. He has been a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity since 1983, and a member of ALJay Williams Lodge #764 since 2000. 

Rev. Dockery is married to Dale Dockery and they have two children: Erica and Michael; and one granddaughter Raelyn.
